The City:

• A jewel of Central America, Costa Rica is an oasis of calm. A haven for ecotourism and one of the best places to learn Spanish.


• Costa Rica is located in Central America, bordering with Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east.


• The Monteverde region, comprised of ten towns with 8000 people, is situated on the Continental divide in the Tilarán Mountain range, at an elevation of 1,685 meters. This rural region is a five hour bus ride from the capital of Costa Rica, San José.


• Montverde is renowned for its commitment to the sustainable development of the community and the conservation of the cloud forest reserves. A new and spectacular way to view the forest without much physical effort is the “Skywalk”. These bridges, some suspended at over 130 feet, make for truly spectacular views.

Our partner school is set in the town of Cerro Plano, where most regional accommodation and businesses are located.

The school offers:

• Intensive group course: 20 group classes per week
• Super-intensive group course: 25 group classes per week
• One on One course: 20 classes per week
• Volunteer programme: a minimum of 4-week Spanish course is required to be eligible for the volunteer programme.

Classes are held from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 12:00 with a 20-minute coffee break at 10:00. In the Super-intensive courses classes start at 8:00 am and finish at 2:30 pm with a coffee break at 10:00 and a one-hour break at 12:00.

All teachers are university graduates and have been well trained in the teaching of Spanish to foreigners.

In order to help you improve your Spanish speaking skills and your knowledge of the culture we offer you, a host family where you will have a single room with half board.

The school organizes excursions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and the weekends. Cultural activities take place in the library 2-3 times per week and once a month we celebrate a "cultural week" with special events.
